Becoming an Ambassador for Menopause Livia was a natural evolution following my health transformation since I started following Livia’s advice. As my physique visibly improved and my energy levels soared, family, friends and work colleagues started asking me about my health journey and I would direct them to Livia as the expert. I also used my research skills to explain that Livia’s methods were based on the latest scientific findings around nutrition and training for women before, during and after menopause.
Mutual support and encouragement between the users of Menopause Livia’s methods are key to adopting new habits. It’s helpful to hear how someone my age (52) who only started taking care of her health at 47, is now feeling and looking her very best. It’s important to be able to show that Livia’s methods work on regular middle-aged people. Even those like me who suffered from so many chronic health conditions were exacerbated by the hormonal changes brought on by menopause. All these conditions were alleviated by using Livia’s methods for training and nutrition. Some disappeared completely.
I enjoy talking to women of all ages about how they may wish to rearrange their routines to make more time for the health changes they want to implement. From my experience as a previous client of Livia’s, I believe that communication and even negotiation techniques are needed to ensure our personal networks do not sabotage our efforts to be healthier. It’s also important to identify and ‘disempower’ that inner critical voice that prevents us all from spending time on ourselves. I love experimenting with different ways of cooking and finding pleasure in physical movement… in short, I find JOY in healthy pursuits and spreading the word to other women so we may share experiences on how to make sustainable long-term changes.
Lizbeth’s story
As an academic researcher at a UK university, my job consisted of many hours sitting in front of a laptop. When I was younger, that wasn’t a problem but as I approached my 50th birthday my health was very poor; my mood was low and my weight had ballooned to 85 Kilos (13.4 stones) without me even noticing. I had been suffering from several chronic conditions (hypothyroidism, polycystic ovaries, hyperinsulinemia, high cholesterol and endometriosis) since I was a teenager but the onset of perimenopause was making everything worse. In particular, my endometriosis symptoms were making me miss two or three days of work every month. I realised that I had no quality of life and if I didn’t start taking good care of myself and my health, I was not going to be able to support my child with special needs as he grew older or enjoy life.
I started doing some research on the latest treatments to manage all my hormone-linked conditions, starting with endometriosis and low mood. My NHS doctors tried everything they could to make my endometriosis improve, to no avail. In the meantime, I also found some interesting research (in endometriosis websites from the US) that suggested resistance training (body-weight exercises or with dumbells) and bands could help with building muscle, losing fat and hence changing my body composition and hormonal profile.
Livia’s Resista plans were aligned with those research findings and as I started implementing them, the symptoms of my many conditions lessened and some of them disappeared completely. Consistency is key to getting the most out of Livia’s combination of resistance training, good nutrition and sleep, supported by Livia directly and her community of experienced clients and health advisors.
Nowadays I’m in the best physical condition I’ve ever been and I’m keen to support other women achieve their health goals following Menopause Livia’s methods.
